Engineer Mahmoud Murad, head of the agency, stressed New Obour Citystressed the need to intensify field efforts and a continuous presence in the main streets and axes, to ensure that sidewalks and public corridors are cleared of occupancy that hinders the movement of citizens and negatively affects traffic flow and the general appearance, in addition to harming licensed markets and shops.

The New Transit Authority launches intensive campaigns to remove occupancy and infringement by street vendors

The campaign witnessed the participation of the Engineer, Vice President of the Agency for Development, the Associate Engineer, Head of the Agency, and the Director of Security of the Agency, as it targeted a number of areas with high densities, most notably the 2,600-acre area and the Fourteenth District.

The campaign resulted in the removal of all gatherings of street vendors, in addition to removing the occupancy of illegal shops that used unauthorized spaces to display their goods, and the reopening of sidewalks and public corridors to the movement of citizens, in a way that ensures the flow of traffic, contributes to achieving discipline, and preserving the civilized appearance and urban pattern of the city.

The head of the agency confirmed that these campaigns come within an integrated and continuous plan of action to eliminate all forms of slums, noting that occupancy will not be allowed to return to the sites that were dealt with, while taking deterrent legal measures against any future violations.

He also directed the heads of neighborhoods to implement periodic field visits throughout the day, to monitor any violations as soon as they occur, and to work to establish discipline in the streets and commercial areas, stressing that preserving the city’s civilized appearance is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of all executive agencies and citizens.

This comes in light of the directives of Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, aimed at preserving the civilized character of the new cities and confronting all random manifestations.
