A source told Cairo 24, who revealed the developments of the injury suffered by Mohamed Hamdy, the left back of the Egyptian national team, during the match between Egypt and Benin. The source indicated that the initial examination of Mohamed Hamdy’s injury indicated that there was a suspicion of a tear in the cruciate ligament of the knee, explaining that Hamdy suffered a severe sprain at the knee level during a joint ball with one of the Benin players.

It is worth noting that the match between Egypt and Benin in the round of 16 ended with the Pharaohs’ victory over the Squirrels with a score of 3-1, after the original rounds of the match ended in a positive draw 1-1.

The Egyptian national team, which qualifies from the match between Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso, is waiting to meet it in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations next Saturday at nine o’clock Cairo time at the Adrar Stadium in the Moroccan city of Agadir.
