The Official Gazette published, in Issue No. 77 issued on April 7, 2026, the decision of Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of the Interior, regarding allowing 21 citizens to acquire foreign nationality while retaining Egyptian citizenship.
Allowing 21 citizens to obtain foreign citizenship while retaining Egyptian citizenship
Resolution No. 403 of 2026 came after reviewing the Constitution, Law No. 26 of 1975 issued regarding Egyptian citizenship, and Ministerial Resolution No. 1004 of 2018 issued delegating the Major General Assistant Minister to the Affairs Sector of the Minister’s Office to exercise the powers assigned to the Minister of the Interior under Law No. 26 of 1975 regarding Egyptian citizenship.
The first article stipulates that each of the twenty-one citizens, the first of whom is Mahmoud Muhammad Hassan Salama and the last of whom is Kamal Abdel Hamid Muhammad Abu Zaid, whose names are listed in the attached statement, is authorized to naturalize the foreign nationality indicated next to the name of each of them, while retaining the Egyptian nationality.
Article Two stipulates that this decision shall be published in the Egyptian Gazette in written form on 3/2/2026.
