The Supreme Council of Universities held its periodic meeting, headed by Dr. Abdel Aziz Qanswa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and members of the Council, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the new capital.

Activating the role of universities and institutes in energy conservation

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Abdul Aziz Qanswa emphasized activating the role of universities and institutes in rationalizing energy to confront the global energy crisis, through several executive measures that include rationalizing the fuel used in university transportation, using energy-saving light bulbs, and using solar energy units with an increase in their number during the coming period, taking into account taking disciplined and rational measures for the use of lighting in auditoriums and classrooms.

The Minister pointed out the need to pay attention to the outputs of scientific research that can contribute to providing scientific solutions to economic, social, health and environmental challenges, while enhancing integration between scientific research, education and industry, and contributing to supporting national and development projects in various sectors.

The Minister stressed coordination and integration between university hospitals and Ministry of Health hospitals within the framework of the health system at the national level, stressing support for university hospitals to join the comprehensive health insurance system, as well as their accreditation from the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control.

Dr. Abdul Aziz Qanswa directed that universities engage in community participation and contribute effectively to achieving sustainable development by supporting and assisting the efforts of all governorates across the republic.
