King Abdullah II, the Jordanian monarch, directed the restructuring of the Jordanian army and the preparation of a strategy and road map to achieve a structural transformation in the Jordanian armed forces during the next three years, in a letter to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In a message to the Chief of Staff of the Jordanian Army, Jordanian King Abdullah II said that the Jordanian Armed Forces must possess sufficient reserve forces reinforced with various necessary capabilities, and to place the field of defensive and offensive cyber operations as one of the priorities.

The Jordan News Agency indicated that the message included that the Jordanian king wants the armed forces to have the ability to protect strategic and operational centers of gravity, adding: We aspire to agile, flexible and qualitative armed forces, as well as restructuring the armed forces to suit the requirements of combat and master modern methods of warfare.

It also included a comprehensive strategy and a clear roadmap to achieve a structural transformation in the armed forces within 3 years, and that it is necessary to consider the requirements related to the modernization and development of our armed forces and restructure them so that their organizational structure suits the requirements of combat within different operational environments, and in a way that ensures mastery of modern methods of warfare and the effective employment of their capabilities in a manner commensurate with the nature of contemporary hybrid and non-conventional wars.
