EU leaders offered support to Cyprus In its upcoming talks with the United Kingdom about the future of British military bases on the island.
The European Council explained, according to a report published by the British newspaper The Telegraph, that it welcomed Nicosia’s intention to open a discussion with London regarding the status of facilities such as the Akrotiri base, after it was subjected to a drone attack at the beginning of the war.

For his part, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides called for an open and frank discussion with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer after the end of the conflict, describing these rules as a colonial legacy on the island.
In a related context, the European Union called for an end to targeting energy and water infrastructure, in light of the mutual escalation between Iran and Israel, which included strikes on gas facilities in several locations in the region.
