Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, commented on the development work of Khedive Cairo taking place in the Sayyida Nafisa area, noting that there is a plan to revive the historical character of the heritage areas in the capital.

Regarding what was raised about the demolition of the Sayyida Nafisa corridor for the women’s entrance, the Governor of Cairo said, in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that there is development work underway for the entire area to develop it within the Khedive Cairo Project, which the executive authorities began implementing some time ago.

The governor explained that the development work aims to improve the heritage and historical character, beautify it, and raise its efficiency in a manner befitting the cultural and historical character of the region, while fully preserving all existing heritage elements.

He pointed out that the development plan is being implemented in coordination with the competent authorities to ensure the preservation of the architectural identity and historical features of the Sayyida Nafisa area, in addition to improving the services provided to visitors and citizens.

Earlier, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly directed the formation of a higher committee to revive the “Al-Bayt Path” and connect the areas located there, rehabilitate them, implement squares around them, gardens and parks, and preserve them from the random encroachment that has affected them, in order to achieve the state’s direction in preserving the civilized face of those areas in a way that restores their historical depth.

He explained that the committee will include ministries and relevant authorities in its membership, with the aim of integrating its work and being consistent with the general vision, which aims to preserve this distinguished region.
