The Lebanese artist Haifa Wehbe filed an official grievance before the Administrative Court of the State Council, in which she appeals the decision of the Musical Professions Syndicate in Egypt issued on March 18, 2025, not to grant her a permit to sing inside the country following a complaint submitted by concert organizer Khaled Hassanein, known as Khaled El-Tohamy, in which he accused her of insulting him on social media sites.

Haifa confirmed in the lawsuit – submitted through Rania El-Menawy’s law firm – that the union summoned her for investigation despite not holding Egyptian citizenship and not being registered as a member within the union, which she considered a legal violation, noting that her legal representative provided proof of her absence inside Egypt and her external technical obligations, but the committee refused to approve his power of attorney and declined to inform the defense of the complaint.

Her defense explained that the decision is against the law due to the lack of status, as the artist is subject to the Music Professions Syndicate in Beirut and is not a member of the Egyptian Syndicate, in addition to the stubbornness of the investigation and hearing witnesses in her absence.

The artist Haifa Wehbe expressed her happiness with the ruling issued by the Administrative Court in Egypt, which ruled to stop the implementation of the decision of the Musical Professions Syndicate that prevented her from singing inside the country, and to cancel the decision completely, while obligating the union to pay the expenses and attorney’s fees.

Haifa explained that the ruling came after the lawsuit she filed against the union’s arbitrary decision, issued without any investigation or legal justification, which the judiciary considered an abuse of power.

Haifa also extended special thanks to her lawyer, Dr. Rania Al-Minawi, for her great efforts since the beginning of the case, and said: With sincere gratitude to Dr. Rania Al-Minawi for her dedication and perseverance, which was the cornerstone of this victory.

Haifa Wehbe concluded her statement by emphasizing her respect for the Egyptian judiciary, stressing that truth and justice will always remain the compass for any situation.
