Dr. Badr Abdel Ati received Minister of Foreign Affairs And Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, Kaya Callas, to hold political consultations on relations between Egypt and the European Union, and to find out the latest regional and international developments of common interest.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement that Minister Abdel Ati welcomed, during the discussions, the ongoing consultation and coordination with the High Representative and the European Union on various issues, whether at the level of bilateral relations or regional and international issues of common interest, appreciating the boom witnessed in relations between Egypt and the European Union.

He stressed the aspiration to continue working with the High Representative to support cooperation within the framework of implementing the six axes of the strategic and comprehensive partnership, and implementing the outcomes of the Egyptian-European summit held in Brussels last October 22, as a road map for the next two years until the date of the next summit in 2027.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also explained the importance of activating the Egyptian-European Investment Platform that was launched in June 2025 by expanding the sectors that benefit from these investments to extend to sectors that affect the daily lives of citizens, including small and medium productive projects in sectors such as industry and agriculture, stressing the importance of working to remove obstacles to the access of Egyptian goods to European markets.
The Minister expressed his aspiration to continue coordination and cooperation with the European Union in other areas such as legal immigration and training skilled workers, expressing his aspiration to hold a security and defense dialogue between Egypt and the European Union as well as cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, in addition to the European Union’s support for Egypt to become a regional center for providing humanitarian support to crisis hotspots in the region.
Visions were also exchanged regarding the action plan for the Mediterranean Charter, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewing Egypt’s vision for the Charter and the list of projects and initiatives proposed in this regard, noting interest in hosting the headquarters of the Euro-Mediterranean University Secretariat.
The official spokesman added that the consultations addressed regional issues of common concern, most notably the situation in the Gaza Strip, where the minister stressed the importance of the European Union’s involvement to ensure the implementation of the entitlements of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan.
In this context, he stressed the need for humanitarian, medical and relief aid to be available in sufficient quantities without restrictions, especially in light of the harsh winter conditions, to alleviate the suffering of the residents of the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of announcing the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the daily affairs of the Palestinians, as well as the rapid deployment of the International Stabilization Force to monitor the ceasefire and pave the way for early recovery and reconstruction.
The Foreign Minister also briefed the European official on the efforts undertaken by Egypt to train Palestinian police officers, welcoming the European proposal to support Egypt’s efforts in this regard. The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the unity of the Palestinian territories between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and rejected any measures that would divide the Gaza Strip and undermine the chances of a two-state solution.
The meeting also discussed developments in the situation in Sudan, where the Foreign Minister briefed the European official on Egyptian efforts within the framework of the Quartet Mechanism, with the aim of pushing towards a humanitarian truce and a comprehensive ceasefire. He stressed the importance of preserving Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and supporting its national institutions. He stressed the importance of providing safe havens and ensuring unimpeded access to humanitarian aid to the brotherly Sudanese people, denouncing the massacres and grave violations committed against civilians in El Fasher and North Kordofan.
Minister Abdel Ati stressed that the unilateral and illegal Israeli recognition of the so-called Somaliland region represents a flagrant violation of the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and an undermining of the rules of international law, the United Nations Charter and the founding charter of the African Union, as well as being a dangerous precedent that threatens regional and international peace and security, which requires a unified position to support Somalia and concerted efforts to achieve security and stability in Somalia and the Horn of Africa region. He affirmed Egypt’s full support for the intangible unity, sovereignty and integrity of Somali territory, as it is an essential pillar for the stability of the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.
Minister Abdel Ati also stressed that the governance of the Red Sea remains an inherent and exclusive matter for the countries bordering it, as they are concerned with preserving its security, stability, and the sustainability of its resources, in a way that enhances the common interests of its peoples and enshrines the principle of regional ownership in managing its affairs.
Regarding developments in Yemen, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed Egypt’s firm position in support of the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen, and the importance of preserving the national state institutions, in a way that preserves the capabilities of the brotherly Yemeni people and prevents the situation from sliding towards further escalation and instability.
He stressed the need to intensify efforts aimed at stabilizing the calm and reducing the escalation, and creating the appropriate climate for the resumption of the political process, on the basis of an inclusive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue that leads to a comprehensive settlement that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, stability and development.
Minister Abdel-Aty noted Egypt’s position rejecting the violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and the necessity of preserving the unity and integrity of its lands, as well as supporting national institutions to fully assume their responsibilities in preserving Lebanon’s security and stability. He also stressed the importance of pushing towards a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Syria, based on preserving the unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian state, and meeting the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people.
Regarding the water security file, Minister Abdel-Ati stressed the necessity of adhering to the rules of international law with regard to shared water resources, explaining the necessity of cooperation on the basis of consensus and common benefit to achieve the interests of all Nile Basin countries, stressing the rejection of unilateral measures that violate international law in the Eastern Nile Basin and stressing that Egypt will take all measures guaranteed under international law to protect the existential capabilities of its people.
Regarding the Ukrainian crisis, Minister Abdel Aty explained the necessity of reaching a peaceful and diplomatic settlement of the crisis, in a way that achieves regional and international security and stability.
