Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, confirmed that the Arab Government Excellence Award has become a leading Arab platform for celebrating creativity and innovation in public administration, noting that it embodies an inspiring Arab model in developing institutional performance and promoting a culture of excellence.

This came during his speech at the opening ceremony of the fourth edition of the award, which was held today at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, where Aboul Gheit welcomed the audience, expressing his appreciation for the supportive role of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his generous sponsorship of the award, and praising the great efforts of the work team responsible for it.

The Secretary-General said that the award is not limited to being an occasion to honor or recognize distinguished achievements, but rather represents a clear message to all government work institutions in the Arab world that change and development are a necessity and a responsibility, adding that “government work must be a lever for change and an incubator for initiative and innovation, and that confronting challenges does not mean relying on reality, but rather turning it into opportunities and using best practices to unleash creative energies.”

Aboul Gheit pointed out that the winners of this session are united by the spirit of initiative and the ability to bring about positive, thoughtful change, which is the spirit that government institutions need to keep pace with the rapid changes in the contemporary world, stressing that the ultimate goal of government work is to serve the Arab citizen and improve the quality of his life.

He expressed his hope that the award would contribute to motivating Arab governments to adopt innovation and development approaches and consolidate positive competition, in a way that supports building more flexible and efficient institutions capable of providing high-quality services.

At the conclusion of his speech, the Secretary-General congratulated the winners of the Arab Government Excellence Award in its fourth session, thanking everyone who contributed to the success of the event, and reiterating his appreciation for the United Arab Emirates, which he described its innovative government experience as “a source of inspiration at the regional and global level.”
