The Documentary Production Sector of the United Media Services Company announced the production of the documentary film “Adawiya… Sultan of the People of Fancy”, and it will be shown soon on the “Documentary” screen.

The documentary film “Adawiya…the Sultan of Ahl al-Hawa”

The film documents the story of the rise of the Egyptian artist Ahmed Adawiya, one of the pioneers of popular singing in Egypt and its Arab surroundings, detailing his upbringing in Upper Egypt, his move to the capital, his early artistic beginnings on Muhammad Ali Street in Cairo, and then his transformation into an artistic phenomenon that imposed its presence during the seventies and eighties, coinciding with social and economic changes that Egypt witnessed, including policies of economic openness and the spread of cassette tapes.

The film also discusses the controversy that accompanied “Adawiya” during his career, and the criticism he faced, also reviewing the reasons for his entry into the world of cinema and advertising, and the extension of his artistic influence to new generations.

A number of singers who were influenced by the artist Ahmed Adawiya from different generations participate in the film, in addition to poets, critics, intellectuals, and professors of music and art criticism.

The film comes within the framework of interest in Egyptian art in all its branches and forms, and out of its keenness to document the careers of Egyptian creators in various fields.
