Engineer Hind Musaed, Director of the Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade in Matrouh Governorate, stressed the continued efforts of the Directorate to monitor and control factories and stores that sell meat and frozen goods, and within the framework of combating the phenomenon of “Bir al-Salam” manufacturing.

She explained that the rationing campaigns resulted in the seizure and confiscation of large quantities of liver, sausage, minced meat, and kofta in a number of stores, in addition to the seizure of similar quantities in some stores in the city of Marsa Matrouh, despite prior warning to these stores not to buy or trade suspicious goods that do not conform to specifications.

She added that the Supply Directorate continues to track the cars involved in distributing these freezers, and take legal measures against any store proven to be involved in purchasing or trading counterfeit freezers. When the seized items were presented to the health office, it was found that they consisted of soybeans, fibers, fats, dyes, and colors that were not approved for use and were not fit for human consumption.

In a related context, she indicated that during a joint campaign between the Consumer Protection Department and the Domestic Trade Department, expired food commodities were seized in a store in Marsa Matrouh, amounting to about 500 pieces, which included: cakes, chips, molto, biscuits, custard, Nutella, cans, juices, and yoghurt.
Today, underweight reports were issued for a number of municipal bakeries, and a bakery was arrested for disposing of its prescribed quota.
