Yesterday, Tuesday, the Saudi authorities announced the observation of the first quarter crescent of the month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH in the sky of the northern border region in the city of Arar.

Adnan Khalifa, a member of the Saudi Astronomy and Space Club, explained that the crescent of the holy month reached its current phase on Tuesday afternoon at 15:28, which is the time when half the disk of the celestial body appears illuminated because it is located at almost a right angle with the sun relative to the Earth.

“Khalifa” added that this stage is one of the important stations in the moon’s houses, as it gives those interested in space science an ideal opportunity to observe the details of the lunar surface with complete clarity, according to what was reported by the official Saudi News Agency, “SPA.”

He said that the clarity of the desert atmosphere in the city of Arar helped achieve successful and ideal observations, which highlights Saudi Arabia’s role in promoting the scientific culture related to astronomy, monitoring the movement of objects in the dome of the sky, and providing an environment for new and ongoing astronomical discoveries.

This field monitoring comes within the framework of the growing interest in following up on cosmic phenomena in the northern border region of the Kingdom, which is witnessing wide interaction from specialists and amateurs alike.
