Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, announced that Russian forces took control of 12 towns during the first two weeks of February, despite what he described as harsh winter weather conditions, stressing the continued implementation of the tasks of the “special military operation” and attacks on various axes.
Gerasimov’s statements came, according to a statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Defense, during his inspection of the progress of combat operations of the formations and units of the Center Forces Group.
He explained that the forces of the Southern Group are advancing towards Slavyansk, with the completion of control over Reznikovka, while battles continue in the area of the eastern bank of the Oskol River, where Glushkovka has been controlled and clashes are taking place in Novosynovo.
Forming additional units of drones
He pointed out that the Ukrainian forces are suffering huge losses that they are unable to compensate for, as they are focusing on forming additional units of drones in light of the low rates of equipping the battalions, while the Russian units are using drones twice as much as the enemy, as he described it.
He pointed out that the fiercest battles are taking place within the Center’s forces group, which continues to advance towards Dobropolje, and is carrying out operations to control Novopavlovka and Novopodgornoye, in addition to destroying Ukrainian formations in Greshino.
He added that the “North” group of forces expanded the buffer zone in the border areas of Sumy and Kharkov provinces, and the towns of Popovka and Sidorovka in Sumy, and Chugunovka in Kharkov, were controlled, while continuing to eliminate the remnants of the besieged Ukrainian forces east of the Oskol River.
