An informed source in the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence told Tasnim Agency that what was published by the New York Times regarding members of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence expressing their willingness to negotiate with the US Central Intelligence Agency to end the war is a complete lie and a campaign of psychological warfare during the fighting.
The truth about the secret negotiations between Tehran and Washington
The source added that Iran does not doubt the need to repeatedly punish the enemy, noting that such news reflects, above all, a growing feeling of impotence among the Americans in the military field.
Earlier, the New York Times reported in an intelligence report that although Iran’s surviving leaders declared their refusal to negotiate publicly with US President Donald Trump regarding the ongoing American and Israeli attacks on their country, elements of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence indirectly contacted the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) just one day after the strikes began, offering to discuss the terms for stopping the conflict, according to officials familiar with this communication.
The newspaper added, quoting officials, that the American side is still skeptical, at least in the near term, about the extent to which the American administration or Iran is actually prepared to reach a way out or immediately stop the fighting.
According to the report, this offer was made through a third-country intelligence service, which raises questions about the ability of any Iranian officials to implement a truce agreement in light of what the newspaper described as a state of chaos within the Tehran government, and the systematic targeting of its leaders by Israeli strikes.
