Police and guards formed a barrier between the two groups to restore order. Fortunately, the chaos settled relatively quickly and fans returned to their stands without further incident.
This match was a significant moment as it was the first time the entire Bromelawn Stand had been dedicated to Celtic fans at Ibrox since 2018, when their allocation was reduced to less than 1,000.
Traditionally, around 7,500 Celtic fans would fill the stand for Old Firm derby matches, but away allocations have fluctuated in recent years due to a series of tit-for-tat moves between clubs, and according to BBC News, tensions between the two fan bases remain an important aspect of these matches, reflecting the intense competition that characterizes Scottish football.
