Dr. Mohab Megahed, member, warned Senate A consultant psychiatrist, regarding the impact of the use of social media and technology on children, said: “The reality is much worse. Our children are wasted, our children are wasted.”
MP Mohab Mujahid warns of the dangers of unregulated technology to children
Mujahid added during the plenary session of the Senate today: I am addressing the most important characteristic in the life of every human being, male and female, the father and mother. The future of the country is in building the Egyptian character, and there is no greater danger to the Egyptian character than the impact of unregulated exposure to technology on our children.
Mujahid continued: “In education, every father’s and mother’s day, we build two bricks, and the mobile phone demolishes a wall in 5 minutes, stressing that the child is the son of the state before he is the son of his parents, and the state is responsible for protecting him because he is the future of the state.”
He presented suggestions on 3 main axes, calling for work on all of them, pointing out the importance of the awareness axis in which all efforts must be combined, in addition to the executive axis, calling on the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to finish the project for the children’s segment that is sold and to legalize the content that is shown to the child.
As for the legislative axis, he said: It comes after educating parents to avoid ignorance, and developing an executive alternative to avoid helplessness, but the solution is not only in legislation.
