
The Medical Facilities Regulation Law, amended in 2004, faced the phenomenon of accommodation Medical facilities Without a license.
Penalty for establishing medical facilities without a license
The Medical Facilities Law established a penalty for a facility practicing medical activity before it is licensed, which is closure, and a fine of up to 50,000 pounds. In the event that the unlicensed facility resumes activity after its closure, the law stipulates that “a penalty of imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year, and a fine of not less than 10,000 pounds ($636.53) and not exceeding 20,000 pounds, or one of these two penalties, shall be imposed on anyone who manages a medical facility that has previously been ruled to close or an administrative decision to close before it has been issued.” The reasons for the closure have disappeared.
Major General Akram Mohamed Galal, Governor of Ismailia, had directed intensive traffic and tight control over non-governmental, “private” medical facilities, and arresting violators, in order to preserve the public health of citizens.
Dr. Reem Mustafa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Ismailia, stated that the campaign resulted in warning 6 facilities to avoid negative issues and issuing closure decisions for 4 violating facilities, which were issued a closure decision due to the lack of a spatial license, in addition to the presence of violations of the requirements for free treatment and infection control and quality standards in examination rooms.
The committee visited 14 private medical facilities, including an analysis laboratory, specialized clinics, an orthopedic clinic, an obstetrics and gynecology clinic, a private hospital and other specialties in the city of Ismailia.
The Department of Free Treatment at the Ismailia Health Directorate, headed by Dr. Heba Taha, formed a committee whose members included Dr. Nihal Ahmed, Dr. Iman Muhammad and Dr. Aya Abdel Nasser to visit non-governmental medical facilities.
