Barcelona has expressed great interest in signing Norwegian international Julian Ryerson, the German full-back of Borussia Dortmund, to strengthen the defense line during the coming period.
Remarkable brilliance and record numbers
According to the Fichajes website, the 28-year-old is experiencing the best period of his football career, as he caught attention with his consistent and decisive performance in the German League and European tournaments. The player had performed amazingly in Dortmund’s last match against Mainz, by making 3 goals in just 45 minutes, raising his tally to 12 assists this season in various competitions.
Why does Hansi Flick want him?
The report indicated that Ryerson’s style fits perfectly with the philosophy of Barcelona coach Flick. The player is characterized by high tactical discipline, fighting spirit, and the ability to participate intelligently in attack. The player’s flexibility is also a major advantage, as he is good at playing in the right and left back positions with the same efficiency, which makes him an ideal choice to strengthen the Catalan club’s defense.
Borussia Dortmund’s position
Despite Barcelona’s interest, the Spanish website indicated that the task of including him will not be easy. The Borussia Dortmund administration considers the Norwegian defender an indispensable pillar of the sports club project.
Ryerson’s contract with the Westphalia Lions extends until 2028, and the German club has no current intention to negotiate his departure.
An immediate solution or a bet on the future?
Barcelona sees in Ryerson an immediate addition capable of providing an addition in the Spanish League and the Champions League, thanks to his competitive maturity and great experience, rather than looking for young talents who may need time to adapt.
