Facing parts of Thailand Floods Record-breaking deaths resulted in at least 33 people, and prompted the authorities to deploy ships and military helicopters to support relief efforts, as floods struck 10 provinces in the south of the country, and the city of Hat Yai, a commercial center located on the border with Malaysia, recorded the highest rainfall in 300 years, at a rate of 335 mm in one day.

Heavy floods hit a Thai city, killing 33 people

According to what was published on the BBC, many pictures showed submerged vehicles and homes in Thailand, while residents waited for rescue on the roofs of their homes. Torrential rains also swept neighboring countries. In Vietnam, the death toll rose to 98 people within a week, while in Malaysia, more than 19,000 people were forced to leave their homes. More than two million people in Thailand were affected by the floods, but only 13,000 people were taken to shelters, and the vast majority of them are isolated and unable to get help.

The Thai army, which has been tasked with handling the crisis, said it was preparing to send an aircraft carrier and a fleet of 14 boats loaded with relief supplies, along with field kitchens said to be able to deliver 3,000 meals a day. Medical teams on board the aircraft carrier would convert it into a floating hospital if necessary, and boats, high-lift trucks and jet skis were also deployed to evacuate residents.

The Thai government announced yesterday, Tuesday, that there are many people stranded in rising waters, and that volunteer rescue groups have received thousands of calls in the past three days asking people to evacuate.
