The Sohag Supply Department, led by Medhat Asham, Director of the Department, and with the participation of Ramadan Salah, Head of the Control Department, implemented an expanded supply campaign in the markets in Bandar Sohag District, which resulted in the seizure of meat unfit for human consumption.
More than 300 kilograms of poultry wings unfit for human consumption were seized in Sohag
The campaign came in coordination and cooperation with the Supply Investigation Department, the Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Sohag, and the Food Safety Authority, and targeted visits to markets, shops, warehouses, and butcher shops, to ensure the safety of the supply of food commodities and their suitability for human consumption.
The campaign resulted in issuing a misdemeanor report for seizing poultry wings unfit for human consumption, in clear violation of the health and legal requirements regulating the handling of food commodities. The total seized amounted to 315 kilograms of poultry wings unfit for human consumption, which were seized and the necessary measures taken against them.
A report on the incident was filed at the Bandar Sohag Police Department, and legal measures are being taken against the violators, while monitoring campaigns continue on a daily basis to control the markets and prevent the circulation of invalid goods in order to preserve the health of citizens.
This comes within the framework of the directives of Major General Dr. Abdel Fattah Siraj, Governor of Sohag, under the leadership of Dr. Sameh Al-Tuni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Sohag, and the instructions of Engineer Effat Refaat, Undersecretary of the Directorate for Control Affairs, to tighten control over markets, shops, and stores of food commodities, and the state’s keenness to protect the health of citizens.
