Chelsea deprive Enzo Fernandes of City signing
The Blues management imposed a two-match internal suspension on Enzo last week, following his controversial statements during the international break in which he expressed his desire to live in the Spanish capital, which reinforced the news of his move to Real Madrid. Despite his agent Javier Pastore’s attempts to reduce the punishment, the London club decided to stick to the decision to remove the player, who had already missed the previous match with Port Vale in the FA Cup.
Rosenior said in his statements today: “I had several conversations with Enzo, and he has already apologized to me and the club, and we will deal with the rest of the details of this file after the end of our important match against Manchester City on Sunday.”
He added: “It was a serious meeting about a very important matter. I do not question Enzo’s personality or his essence as a player, but we took disciplinary action, and I made this decision personally, and what I hope for Enzo is that he concentrates on his work here to achieve a distinguished career.”
The Chelsea coach continued, explaining the conditions for the player’s return: “Enzo will not play on Sunday. We hope that he will return later to be a key part of the team, but there are still some obstacles that must be overcome before that happens, and at the present time I want every player to focus only on achieving a series of major victories.”
Rosenior concluded his speech by revealing the list of absences from his team for the Stamford Bridge match, confirming the continued absence of the trio Reece James, Trevo Chalobah, and Levi Colwell through injury, at a time when Chelsea occupies sixth place in the English Premier League, one point behind Liverpool, which is in fifth place and qualifies for the Champions League.
