These days, Luxor Governorate is experiencing what can be described as the “golden season,” as hotel occupancy indicators have recorded record numbers coinciding with the peak of the winter season and preparations for the new year 2026, with fixed and floating hotels raising the “full number” slogan in a precedent that has not happened with such intensity in years.

Full occupancy of floating hotels

Sources in the Chamber of Hotel Establishments revealed that the percentage of reservations in the floating hotels (Nile Cruise) between Luxor and Aswan has exceeded 95%, and reaches 100% on New Year’s Eve, driven by a heavy tourist influx from traditional markets such as Germany, Spain and France, in addition to a strong return to the Asian and American markets, which reflects the success of recent promotional campaigns for the Egyptian tourist destination.

Comprehensive economic recovery

The positive return was not limited to hotels only, but extended to include the “street economies” in Luxor, where the tourist “bazaars” and the herbal market witnessed an active buying and selling movement, and the internal transportation sector represented by “stagecoaches” and sailboats also revived, which contributed to improving the income of hundreds of families that depend directly on tourism activity.

Expected momentum to continue

Experts expect this tourism momentum to continue until the end of the first quarter of 2026, especially with the mild winter climate that is unique to Luxor in the world. Local authorities are currently working to ensure the quality of services provided to tourists to maintain this level of flow, while tightening control over markets to ensure a fair purchasing experience for visitors.
