A small plane crash in central Mexico while trying to make an emergency landing on Monday resulted in the deaths of at least 7 people, according to Adrian Hernandez, coordinator of civil protection in the state of Mexico.

The accident occurred in the San Mateo Atenco industrial area, about 5 kilometers from Toluca Airport, and about 50 kilometers west of the capital, Mexico City. The plane had taken off from Acapulco on the Mexican coast overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Hernandez explained that the private plane had 8 passengers and a crew of two on board, but hours after the accident, only 7 bodies were found. He pointed out that the plane apparently tried to land on a football field, but it collided with the metal roof of a nearby commercial building, causing a major fire.
The Associated Press reported that the small plane crash in central Maskik caused the death of at least 7 people, and that the accident is being investigated, according to the Civil Protection Coordinator.
