The Presidential Initiatives Administration organized extensive training on public health initiatives services for the initiative integration units in the Al-Fashn, Beba, and Al-Wasta health departments in the Health Directorate in Beni Suef Governorate, within the framework of the Ministry of Health and Population’s plan to raise the efficiency of medical service providers, develop the primary health care system, and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.

The training witnessed the presence of the coordinators of presidential initiatives in the directorate and health departments, along with the heads of nurses in the health units, with the aim of unifying concepts, raising performance efficiency, and ensuring the provision of integrated health services to citizens in accordance with approved standards.

The training came under the auspices of Dr. Hani Gomaa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Ahmed Ashraf, General Coordinator of Presidential Initiatives, who stressed the importance of continuing training and qualification programs for health sector workers, which contributes to improving the level of health services provided, and keeps pace with the state’s strategy to develop the health system and achieve the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Those in charge of the training stressed that these efforts come within the framework of supporting presidential public health initiatives and enhancing the role of primary health care units as the first line of defense for preserving citizens’ health.

Earlier, Dr. Mohamed Hani Ghoneim, Governor of Beni Suef, discussed, with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, the results and efforts of the revitalization campaign for family development, which was implemented by the Health Directorate in two phases from 14 to 25 last December, as part of the activities of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Human Building” under the slogan (The Journey of the Golden Thousand Begins with a Step) to provide free family planning and reproductive health services in all cities and villages of the governorate through hospitals, health units and mobile clinics, amid the application of all precautionary measures. In order to preserve the health and safety of those running the campaign, those who frequent it, and those who benefit from its services.

This came during his meeting with Dr. Hani Jumaa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, to review the results and efforts of the campaign that was implemented through two phases. The first phase was held from the 14th to the 18th of last December in 4 administrations (Beni Suef, Biba, Samasta, and Ihnasia), followed by the second phase from the 21st to the 25th of the same month in 3 administrations (Al-Fashn, Al-Wasta, and Nasser), where the campaign provided a distinguished set of safe and effective family planning methods. Free of charge to raise the rates of use of family planning methods, through trained teams and obstetrician-gynecologists.

According to the report, presented by the Undersecretary, the total number of beneficiaries who benefited from the campaign’s services reached 15,851 women, and the total number of women who received planning methods reached 15,204 women (2,806 new + 12,398 hesitant), where 76 hormonal IUDs, 1,227 copper IUDs, 1,324 single pills, 6,750 combination pills, and 284 condoms were installed. And 4334 single injections, 714 combination injections, 1099 capsules, 34 topical tablets, in addition to 9351 years of protection.

The Undersecretary thanked those in charge and supervisors of the campaign’s implementation from the Family Planning Department in the Directorate and the directors of health departments for their efforts in achieving the goal of the family development revitalization campaign in its first and second phases, during which all family planning services were provided “free of charge,” in addition to organizing awareness seminars for women on the sidelines of the campaign about family planning methods and reproductive health, as well as holding exhibitions of women’s club products in health units as part of the campaign’s activities.
