Major General Muhammad Alwan, Governor, announced Assiutannounced the implementation of an integrated plan prepared by the Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade in the governorate, in preparation for receiving the blessed Eid Al-Fitr, within the framework of the state’s keenness to secure the needs of citizens and control markets during the Eid period.

The governor stressed that the plan aims to achieve rationing stability and ensure the availability of basic and strategic goods, while tightening control over markets, bakeries and gas stations, stressing that all necessary measures will be taken to immediately deal with any complaints or violations.
The governor explained that the maximum level of preparedness has been raised in all sectors of the Supply Directorate, headed by Engineer Khaled Muhammad, Undersecretary of the Ministry, and its affiliated departments at the level of the governorate’s centers, with the suspension of vacations and rest for supply inspectors to ensure the continuation of intensive oversight campaigns during the period before and during Eid al-Fitr. The operating rooms in the directorate’s general office and sub-departments have also been strengthened to work 24 hours a day, to receive citizens’ complaints and deal with them immediately, in coordination with the executive and supervisory bodies.
The governor pointed out that the stocks of food commodities in the governorate are reassuring and sufficient for the needs of citizens, as the quantities of bulk sugar amounted to about 7,908 tons, and packaged sugar 1,197 tons, in addition to the availability of quantities of oil, pasta, flour, and local and imported wheat, ensuring the stability of the markets and the absence of any shortages, adding that the free markets are witnessing a large availability of goods, as the prices of packaged flour range between 24 and 30 pounds, and bulk rice ranges between 25 and 28 pounds, and packaged from 28 to 35 pounds, bulk pasta ranges from 22 to 24 pounds, and packaged pasta (400 grams) ranges from 13 to 24 pounds, with prices varying according to quality. He pointed out that there are 18 luxury flour mills throughout the governorate, which contributes to providing citizens’ needs for food products on an ongoing basis.
The governor confirmed the continuation of the work of the Egyptian Company for Wholesal Trade outlets during the Eid period, along with the rest of the outlets spread across the centres, in addition to paying 22 cars within the “Arabity” project to provide food commodities in various regions, especially the villages and places most in need.
Regarding the gas stove, the governor explained that the governorate’s share had been strengthened to reach about 1,587,000 cylinders during the month of March, to meet the needs of citizens during the remainder of the month of Ramadan and the Eid period, in coordination with the Ministry of Petroleum, with the payment of additional vehicles to cover deprived areas. He also confirmed the stability of the petroleum situation and the availability of diesel and gasoline of all types at gas stations, with increasing pumping rates to meet the expected demand during the Eid, and tightening control to prevent any tampering or exploitation.
The governor explained that the governorate includes 2,188 municipal bakeries that operate according to an organized plan, which ensures that each bakery gets only one day off during the Eid period, in a way that does not affect the availability of bread for citizens, while the Armed Forces bakeries continue to operate without interruption, pointing to monitoring the bakeries’ commitment to operating times and bread specifications, ensuring the quality of the flour used, and the availability of sufficient funds in mills and bakeries throughout the Eid period.
The governor stressed the intensification of ration campaigns during the days preceding and during Eid, to control markets and ensure the suitability of goods for human consumption, and to monitor adherence to announced prices, in addition to continuous traffic to bakeries and mills.
The governor concluded his statements by emphasizing that the directorate’s operating rooms and supply departments are working at full capacity to receive citizens’ complaints throughout the day, while quickly taking the necessary measures to remove their causes, in coordination with all concerned agencies, to ensure that Eid al-Fitr takes place in a civilized manner and that all citizens’ needs are met easily and smoothly.
