Counselor Khamis Ramadan, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Committee supervising the elections of the Egyptian Syndicate of Engineers, announced the final statement of the results of the first phase of the 2026 elections, stressing that all the announced numbers accurately express the will of the engineers, in a ballot that took place under full judicial supervision within (302) subcommittees distributed among (36) electoral headquarters nationwide.

12 seats were decided in the first round

The voting results resulted in 12 seats being decided for the heads of sub-unions in the first round after the winners obtained an absolute majority (50% + 1 of the valid votes).

The results were as follows:

  • Beheira: Engineer Hamdi Abdel Salam Al-Husseini Al-Khouli won with 1,637 votes, the highest number of votes for a sub-president.
  • Dakahlia: Reda Muhammad Al-Husseini Al-Shafi’i with 1,522 votes.
  • Assiut: Al-Haytham Abdel Hamid Nasr Abdullah, with 1479 votes.
  • Alexandria: Muhammad Hisham is a complete Saudi with 1,373 votes.
  • Damietta: Sherif Ahid Kamel El-Desouki with 1,134 votes.
  • Gharbia: Tamer Mustafa Muhammad Al-Kurani, with 1,059 votes.
  • Qalyubia: Tamer Ramadan Abdallah Abdel Fattah, with 987 votes.
  • Beni Suef: Muhammad Issa Saad Zahran, with 981 votes.
  • Sharqia: Tamer Sami Ismail Jaafar, with 908 votes.
  • Suez: Hafez Mohamed Awad Mohamed with 840 votes.
  • Al-Arish: Abdel Qader Salmi Muhammad, with 536 votes.
  • Matrouh: Khaled Abdullah Issa Mahjoub with 322 votes.

14 governorates to the runoff round

14 governorates are heading to a runoff round because no candidate obtained the required majority, while some districts witnessed close competitions, most notably:

  • Cairo: Between Samir Muhammad Muhammad Hammad (659 votes) and Abdel Aziz Hasaballah Al-Kafrawi (653 votes), with a difference of 6 votes.
  • Giza: between Ihab Muhammad al-Hadi Joudah (526 votes) and Muhammad Mustafa Muhammad al-Fahham (357 votes).
  • Menoufia: Between Ashraf Abdel Moneim Farhan and Alaa Ali Abdel Ghani Shandi.
  • Kafr El-Sheikh: between Muhammad Mahmoud Rabie Hajjaj (1,207 votes) and Muhammad Hamouda Muhammad Fathallah (1,173 votes).
  • Port Said: Between Mohamed Ahmed Al-Sayed Al-Gohary and Ramadan Ali Ahmed Abdel-Al.
  • Ismailia: between Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Suleiman and Osama Abd al-Aziz Ali Abu Zaid.
  • Fayoum: Between the conversion to Islam of Muhammad Jayushi Abdel Ghaffar and Muhammad Ahmed Khairallah.
  • Minya: Between Mansour Abdel Rasoul Muhammad Yaqoub and Ahmed Al-Badawi Sayed Abdel Moneim.
  • Sohag: between Ali Abdel Sater Ali Abdel Al (739 votes) and Ayman Muhammad Hassan Hussein (314 votes).
  • Qena: Between Ahmed Muhammad Al-Deeb Ahmed and Mahmoud Muhammad Abu Zaid Khalil.
  • Luxor: between Muhammad Ali Mahfouz Muhammad and Asaad Mustafa Ahmed Muhammad.
  • Aswan: between Khaled Saeed Mohamed Saeed and Mohamed Mahmoud Orabi Khalil.
  • The Red Sea: between Hosni Mansour Ali Muhammad and Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Ahmed.

Participation amounted to about 11,166 engineers.

  • Above the age: Dalal Hussein Mustafa Helmy (2133 votes), Mahmoud Muhammad Shehata Habib (1622), Hatem Abdel Hamid Bassiouni (1413).
  • Under age: Ibrahim Muhammad Muhammad Mahmoud (3294), Hamid Muhammad Hamid Abdel-Al (2701).

Civil Division

The highest participation rate was recorded at 16,512 engineers.

  • Above the age: Muhammad Al-Wadhi Abu Jabal (3200), Ahmed Sobhi Awad Al-Sayed (2241), Mina Nazmi Labib (2224).
  • Under age: Ziyad Muhammad Shaaban Abu Al-Harith (3868), Ali Jalal Al-Din Ali Hassanein (3308).
  • 4,004 invalid votes were recorded in this division, which is the highest among the people.

Mechanics Division

  • Above the age: Adel Mahmoud Al-Hadi (1938), Abdel Aziz Al-Sayyid Abdel Aziz (1641), Muhammad Fathi Muhammad (1580).
  • Under age: Mohamed Magdy El-Shorbagy (2270), Ahmed Sabry Al-Saeed (2163), Ahmed Mohamed Mohy El-Din (2068).

Architecture Division

  • Above the age: Mahmoud Al-Sayyid Al-Arabi Bakr, Yasser Muhammad Al-Sayyid Ibrahim, Yasser Muhammad Salah Al-Din Al-Maghribi.
  • Underage: Muhammad Farid Muhammad Abdel Aziz, Fayrouz Muhammad Hassan Abdel Jalil, Diaa El-Din Mahmoud Muhammad, Alaa Muhammad Abdel Fattah Qamar, Iman Abu Bakr Ahmed Al-Aouni.

  • Under age: Muhammad Ismail Ibrahim Aliwa, Al-Badrawi Hammad Muhammad Hammad, Ahmed Abdel-Rahman Ahmed Al-Ramsisi.

General indicators about the first stage

  • The highest number of participants was in Cairo (2,662 votes), followed by Kafr El-Sheikh (2,511), then Dakahlia (2,436).
  • The lowest number of votes was in Matrouh (438 votes).
  • The fewest invalid votes in the election of the president were recorded in Qena (8 votes) and Red Sea (only 2 votes).
  • Cases of uncontested wins have appeared in some districts in the border governorates.
  • The elections witnessed a noticeable female presence in a number of sub-assemblies and divisions.

The results of the first phase of the 2026 Engineers Syndicate elections reflect strong competition and diversity in the voting map between the governorates and engineering divisions, with the electoral scene continuing in 14 governorates heading to a run-off round to decide the seats for presidents and complete the formation of the elected councils.
