Leonardo DiCaprio comments on the controversial Golden Globes video
The video, which was published by the official page of the Golden Globes ceremony on the TikTok application, aroused the public’s curiosity and opened the door to speculation about the identity of the person to whom DiCaprio was speaking, especially as it coincided with a loud festive atmosphere inside the hall.
Hours after announcing his eighth Oscar nomination for his role in the movie One Battle After Another, DiCaprio commented in statements to Deadline, explaining that the conversation was directed to a friend, but he refused to reveal any additional details, saying in a joking tone: Who knows if the other person wants me to mention his name at all? As the hero of A Bronx Tale says, I’m not a snitch.
For her part, star Teyana Taylor, co-starring in the film, revealed that there was confusion over the viral clip. She explained in previous media statements that she initially thought that DiCaprio was talking to her, before she later discovered that he was engaged in more than one conversation during the party.
Taylor joked in her appearance on The Tonight Show, asking him: Were you even talking to me? Because I told everyone so! Apparently he talked about a Korean group more than once on the same night.
She added that DiCaprio himself was later unsure of the identity of the person he was laughing with, which added to the funniness of the situation and its spread among the audience.
This pleasant controversy coincides with a successful awards season for the film, which won four Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, in addition to six nominations for the 2026 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson.
DiCaprio’s latest nomination is a new achievement added to his career, as he has officially joined an elite list of stars who have received seven or more Oscar nominations, along with prominent cinematic names such as Kate Winslet, Jane Fonda, and Dustin Hoffman.
