Preliminary official results showed that the party of opposition leader Peter Magyar won the Hungarian elections, compared to a significant decline for the party of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban conceded defeat on Sunday after describing the election result as painful, ending 16 years in power for a powerful figure in the far-right movement allied with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Associated Press.
Orban told his supporters in Budapest: I congratulated the winning party… and we will serve the Hungarian nation and our homeland from the opposition as well.
In the same context, Hungarian opposition leader Peter Magyar stated, through his official Facebook account, that Prime Minister Viktor Orban acknowledged defeat in Sunday’s elections in a phone call that took place between them.
Magyar posted on his Facebook account that Prime Minister Viktor Orban congratulated him on the phone on his party’s victory in the elections.
Tiza is expected to win 135 seats in the 199-seat parliament based on partial results after 45.7% of the votes were counted, according to the National Electoral Office.
