The Ministry of Health and Population stressed the importance of following a number of health guidelines to maintain the strength of the immune system and reduce the chances of contracting infectious diseases, as part of its ongoing efforts to raise health awareness among citizens and promote healthy lifestyles.

The Ministry explained, in an awareness statement, that receiving the prescribed vaccines is one of the most important effective means of immunizing the body against infection, stressing the necessity of adhering to the approved vaccination schedules to ensure the highest level of protection.

Ways to maintain the immune system and prevent infection

The Ministry of Health stressed the importance of avoiding smoking because of its direct negative impact on the efficiency of immune cells, in addition to its role in increasing the risk of chronic diseases and infections.

The Ministry also recommended eating more vegetables and fruits, especially those rich in vitamins C and A, because of their essential role in supporting the immune system and helping the body resist diseases.

The statement stressed the importance of exercising regularly, because of its role in stimulating blood circulation and improving the efficiency of the immune system, in addition to the necessity of getting sufficient sleep and rest to support the body’s vital functions.

The Ministry indicated that stress and psychological anxiety negatively affect immunity, calling for avoiding psychological stress as much as possible and following healthy methods to deal with stress.

She also pointed out the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and adhering to good health habits, most notably washing hands regularly and wearing a mask in crowded places, to limit the transmission of infection.

The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed the continuation of its awareness campaigns to provide citizens with reliable health information, which contributes to protecting public health and promoting community prevention.
