Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Giza, followed the preparations of the Supply and Agriculture Directorates in the governorate to receive this year’s local wheat harvest season, and ensured the readiness of silos and storage sites to begin supply work, within the framework of the state’s plan to enhance food security, considering wheat as a strategic crop.

This came during the governor’s meeting with Mr. Blassi, Director of the Supply Directorate in Giza, and Khaled Abu Al-Atta, Director of the Agriculture Directorate, to follow up on the procedures and mechanisms used to achieve the targeted wheat supply this season.

The Governor of Giza confirmed that the total area planted with wheat within the governorate is about 29,725 acres, noting that 8 storage sites have been prepared to receive local wheat, in addition to the Dabaa Silo Complex – Sphinx Sector of the Egypt Future Agency for Sustainable Development, which is considered one of the most important strategic sites in this file.

The governor explained that the price of wheat supply this year is 2,500 pounds for an ardeb with a cleanliness grade of 23.5, according to what the state specified, directing the Supply Directorate to quickly disburse financial dues to suppliers immediately upon supply, and to work to overcome any obstacles that farmers may face, ensuring the largest possible supply quantities.

Al-Ansari stressed that the state pays great attention to the wheat crop, stressing that the governorate is sparing no effort in providing full support and facilitations to farmers, from harvesting operations to supply, with continued field follow-up to ensure regular work and that no crowding occurs at the receiving sites.

For his part, Khaled Abu Al-Atta, Director of the Agriculture Directorate, explained that the harvest season is expected to begin within the next few days, with positive indicators of an increase in the productivity of acres this year compared to previous years.

While Blasi, Director of the Supply Directorate, pointed out that the storage sites were distributed geographically at the governorate level to be close to the agricultural areas, and include the silos of Atfih, Imbaba, Beni Salama, Bargash, and Auseem, in addition to Shunat al-Saf (2), Bunker Auseem, and the Auseem Collection Center, in addition to the Dabaa silo complex – Sphinx sector, which contributes to facilitating the supply process for farmers and achieving the target of the current season.
