On Friday morning, US President Donald Trump’s motorcade stopped at a marble store in Florida, to choose building materials for a ballroom project that he intends to establish in the White House, according to a US administration official.
According to what was published by the Daily Mail, the official said that Trump purchased the marble and onyx at his own expense from the “Ark Stone and Tile” store in the city of Lake Worth, about four miles from the Mar-a-Lago resort, noting that the materials were intended for the new ballroom in the White House.
Demolishing the East Wing of the White House
The project comes amid a legal dispute with groups concerned with heritage preservation, after the demolition of the eastern wing of the White House.
During a previous hearing, Justice Department lawyers explained that the design of the ballroom was still under modification, stressing the necessity of continuing work for reasons related to national security, especially since the White House shelter is located below the location of the East Wing.
