The implementing agencies announced the project Electrical connection Al-Masry Al-Saudi Al-Youm announced the operation of a voltage of 500 kilovolts of direct current (HVDC) at the Badr station, for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa region, following the completion of connecting the ultra-high-voltage missions and activating the ultra-high-voltage DC valve, in a pivotal step within the phases of the phased operation of the project.

This achievement represents a qualitative progress in the Badr City direct current conversion station, which contributes to supporting the reliability of the two networks and enhancing the capabilities of electrical energy exchange between Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The work was carried out under the supervision of Engineer Mona Rizk, President of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, Engineer Mohamed Riad, full-time member of the Northern Region, Engineer Ihab Attia, Head of the Cairo Region, and Engineer Alaa Rabiei, Head of the Projects Sector, and in the presence of a number of leaders and representatives of the authorities concerned with the project.
Also participating from the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company were: Engineer Heba Thabet, General Manager of Station Projects in the Cairo Region and Director of the Egyptian-Saudi Electricity Interconnection Project, Engineer Mohamed Tahoun, General Manager of Badr Stations, and Engineer Mohamed Abdel Sabour, Site Manager.
On the coalition side, representatives of Hitachi Energy Company were present: Engineer Ahmed Kamel, Alliance Leader, Engineer Mohamed Abdel-Al, Project Manager, and Engineer Ahmed Ali Sharaf, Director of Technical Management. Engineer Imad Anis, project manager, engineer Ahmed Fawzi, director of mechanical and electrical works, engineer Mahmoud Ramadan, director of electricity, and engineer Mahmoud Al-Jarhi, site safety manager, also participated from Orascom.
