Meals rich in sugar are among the foods that may affect energy levels in the body the most, and although eating them in moderation does not represent a major problem, the timing of eating sugars may play an important role in their impact on health.

Experts determine the worst times to eat sugar

According to what was published by The Sun website, nutrition experts indicated that there are two times a day when it is preferable to avoid eating sugars, because the body is more vulnerable to fluctuations in blood sugar levels.

Eating sweets or sugary meals first thing in the morning on an empty stomach is one of the worst times. This is because the body does not contain other nutrients at that moment, such as fiber or protein, which help slow the absorption of sugar in the blood.

This may lead to a rapid rise in blood sugar levels, a temporary feeling of energy, and a rapid decrease in energy after a short period. Also, the body is usually in a state of slight dehydration after sleep due to not drinking water for several hours, which may increase the effect of high blood sugar.

In some cases, eating sugars in the morning may lead to feeling tired or decreased concentration after 30 to 60 minutes, and eating sugary meals late at night is also considered an inappropriate time. Sugar may give the body a boost of energy, which may affect the sleep-wake cycle and make falling asleep more difficult.
