The Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade in Fayoum Governorate continued its intensive monitoring campaigns on markets and food establishments, within the framework of tightening control over goods, controlling violations, and protecting the health of citizens.
The campaigns came in implementation of the directives of Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, and the instructions of Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Governor of Fayoum, and in coordination with the concerned authorities, and under the supervision of Engineer Jumaa Abdel Hafeez, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Fayoum, and Ms. Abeer Al-Aqbi, Undersecretary of the Directorate.
Details of seizures
Engineer Gomaa Abdel Hafeez explained that the campaigns resulted in the seizure of an unlicensed chocolate factory in the Fayoum Center, which was run without obtaining the necessary licenses and lacking the most basic food safety requirements, as 60 chocolate cartons with a total of 220 kg were seized before being sold to citizens.
Two unlicensed sweets factories were also seized for being managed and operated without a license, and the necessary legal reports were issued regarding the violations.
The Directorate confirmed the continuation of daily campaigns, which included visits to tourist bakeries, fava bean and falafel restaurants, supermarkets, subsidized flour warehouses, stove depots, gas stations, butcher shops, and fruit and vegetable markets, to ensure compliance with official prices and control the trading system.
The Fayoum Supply Directorate stressed taking decisive legal measures against violators, and not tolerating any practices that affect the health of citizens or the support system.
