Cairo 24 revealed new behind-the-scenes events Muhammad El-Shenawy Al-Ahly club goalkeeper and referee of the Ceramica Cleopatra match, as a result of which he was expelled after the end of the match.

According to what Cairo 24 learned, the international goalkeeper was surprised after the end of the match by the referee’s words against Hussein El-Shahat, which prompted El-Shenawy to go to him and say: Why are you insulting him?!

The referee showed a yellow card in El-Shenawy’s face, and the goalkeeper replied: What did I do to you?!, before the match’s referee showed a second yellow card, then a red card, and he was officially sent off.

El-Shenawy tried to talk to the referee after the expulsion incident, but stadium security intervened to remove him from the referee and prevent any contact.

The sources confirmed that El-Shenawy did not assault the referee during the incident, but was only seeking to talk to him and inquire about what happened.

Mohamed El-Shenawy, Al-Ahly club’s goalkeeper, is awaiting a possible penalty that could amount to a suspension of 4 to 6 matches, in addition to a fine of 100,000 pounds, after he assaulted assistant referee Mohamed Magdy Soliman following the end of his team’s match against Ceramica Cleopatra.
