Body started Railway Starting today, Monday, December 1, 2025, the decision to collect an additional one pound on train ticket prices will be implemented until the end of this month, according to what was confirmed by an official source at the authority, as part of a joint initiative with the Ministry of Health to support efforts to treat tuberculosis patients.
The source explained to Cairo 24 that the increase comes with the aim of providing additional funding for health initiatives related to the disease, as it is one of the diseases that requires extended care programs and providing direct support to those infected.
The source indicated that the increase is being implemented according to an official protocol that ensures that its entire proceeds are directed to tuberculosis treatment programs, stressing that the step is temporary and will not affect the basic prices of tickets, provided that it will continue until the end of December, with no intention of extending it yet.
This measure comes within a government trend that aims to provide sustainable sources of funding for health initiatives, in parallel with maintaining the quality of transportation services and taking into account the social dimension of citizens, especially the groups most in need.
