The elections for the presidency of the Conservative Party resulted in Engineer Akmal Qortam winning the position of party president, after obtaining 83.7% of the total votes in the General Assembly elections.
The result of the vote was in favor of Qortam, with a large difference over his competitor Magdy Hamdan, who received 15.73% of the votes. The elections also resulted in Amr El-Sherif winning the position of Vice President of the Conservative Party, on the Qortam list, with the same percentage. The elections also resulted in the victory of 75 candidates to fill the party’s supreme body.
The presence of a number of political figures
The party’s general assembly was held in the presence of a number of party leaders and members, along with a number of public figures, including Amr Moussa, former Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. El-Badawi, former head of the Wafd Party, Gamila Ismail, head of the Constitution Party, and a number of political figures.
The Assembly’s activities witnessed the opening of registration for attendees, then the start of the official sessions, which included holding elections for the position of party president and party vice president, in addition to completing the organizational procedures related to the party’s work during the next stage.
