The Egyptian weapon continued to shine on the international scene, after the national team players succeeded in winning two gold and bronze medals in the two U-20 World Cup tournaments, which were held in Germany and Uzbekistan this December.
Ahmed Hisham won the gold medal in the U-20 World Cup in fencing in Germany, while Islam Osama won the bronze medal in the U-20 World Cup in U-20 in Uzbekistan.
Ahmed Hisham was crowned with the gold medal in the German Championship after his victory in the final match over the Hungarian player with a score of 15-7, after a strong journey that began with achieving the full score in the group stage and qualifying directly to the round of 128, where he defeated the Italian player with a score of 15-4, then beat the French player in the round of 64 with a score of 15-5, and beat the Bulgarian player in the round of 32 with a score of 15-9.
Hisham continued his victories in the quarter-finals by defeating the Al-Sobh player with a score of 15-6, before securing the medal after defeating the Romanian player in the quarter-finals with the same score, then he won in the semi-finals over the Italian player with a score of 15-12, to clinch the title in the final.
In the Uzbekistan Championship, Islam Osama won the bronze medal for the under-20 fencing sword, after performing at outstanding levels throughout the competition.
Osama began his journey by achieving the full score in the group stage, qualifying directly to the round of 32, where he defeated the Kazakhstan player with a score of 15-14, then in the quarter-finals he defeated his colleague Yousef Issa with a score of 15-8, before securing the medal after his victory in the quarter-finals over the Saudi player Hassan Abed with a score of 15-11, then he lost in the semi-finals to the Chinese Taipei player with a score of 9-15.
The tournament witnessed a strong presence of Egyptian national team players, as Youssef Shamel achieved fifth place, Youssef Issa came in eleventh place, while Yassin Haggag came in thirteenth place.
