Dr. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals at Ain Shams University, said that the pediatric oncology unit is not the only one in the children’s hospital, pointing out that the hospital includes a group of specialties and advanced units that provide specialized medical services, and among these units are: marrow transplantation, malnutrition units, respiratory disease units, and pediatric heart units, as these units allow the provision of integrated services to children with complex health conditions.
He added that the hospital also contains gastrointestinal endoscopy units, in addition to general departments that deal with respiratory problems and emergency cases, making the hospital an integrated medical center that provides comprehensive care for children.
An integrated plan to modernize all departments of the Children’s Hospital in Ain Shams
He explained in a special statement to Cairo 24 that the establishment of the specialized isolation unit came after the regular departments lacked the required strict environmental controls, stressing that adherence to quality and infection control standards was the basic condition for establishing any new unit. He added that all departments currently being developed will follow the same logic in the next stage, to ensure a safe environment for patients and reduce the possibility of infection and complications.
He also stressed that this development comes within the framework of a comprehensive plan to modernize the hospital, with a focus on integrating different specialties and providing advanced infrastructure, with the aim of raising the level of health care for children and ensuring the effective and safe provision of services, in keeping with the latest international medical practices.
