This comes immediately after a video clip was circulated on social media, showing an employee in the Agriculture Directorate in Gharbia Governorate beating and insulting one of her colleagues, causing a state of chaos and harming the work environment in front of the public of citizens and workers.

Immediately after the video was circulated, the head of the Central Administration for District Affairs went to the Agriculture Directorate and conducted an immediate and urgent investigation into the incident, which concluded that the employee had violated the requirements of her job duty and violated the code of conduct.

Immediately after presenting a detailed memorandum on the incident by the Central Administration for Directorate Affairs, directives were given to take deterrent legal measures, which included referral to the Administrative Prosecution to conduct the necessary investigations, in addition to removing the responsible person from her administrative position and suspending her from work until the investigations are completed. To ensure the proper and regular flow of work, in addition to assigning management tasks to another official to ensure that the interests of citizens are not disrupted.

In this context, the Ministry of Agriculture stresses that it will not tolerate any deviation from job discipline or any behavior that harms the prestige of government institutions, stressing that respect for the law and work rules is the basic criterion for dealing with all workers in the sector.

Beating punishment

Article 236 of the Penal Code stipulates that anyone who intentionally wounds or beats someone or gives harmful substances without intending to kill, but it leads to death, shall be punished with aggravated imprisonment or imprisonment for a period of three to seven years. However, if this was preceded by intent or premeditation, the penalty shall be aggravated imprisonment or imprisonment, and this punishment also applies to crimes that violate the rights of children.

Article 240 of the Penal Code also stipulates for the crime of wounding or beating leading to permanent disability, a penalty of imprisonment from three to five years, and the penalty is increased in the event that the crime is associated with premeditation or apprehension, then aggravated imprisonment shall be from three to ten years.

Punishment for insulting

Article 306 stipulates: “Every reason that does not include the attribution of a specific incident, but rather includes in any way an insult to honor or reputation, shall be punished, in the circumstances stipulated in Article 171, by imprisonment with work for a period of not less than six months and a fine of not less than two thousand pounds and not exceeding ten thousand pounds.”

Article (307) states: “If one of the crimes stipulated in Articles 182 to 185, 303, and 306 is committed by publishing in a newspaper or publication, the penalty shall be imprisonment with labor for a period of no less than one year.”
