Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, made a surprise visit this evening to the “Umm Hani Home for the Elderly” in the Imbaba area of ​​Giza Governorate, in order to check on all the services provided to the home’s 36 residents, both male and female.

The Minister of Social Solidarity was keen to inspect the corridors of the 6-storey home, to see the services provided to the male and female inmates, as well as to inspect the home’s feeding unit.

Dr. Maya Morsi was also keen to meet the inmates at the home and hold individual sessions with some of them, who initially thanked the Minister of Social Solidarity for her keenness to visit them and check on them, and for her keenness to listen to their demands.

The residents of the Umm Hani Home for the Elderly expressed a number of comments about the management of the home, the way social workers dealt with them, as well as their need for a number of demands, as the Minister of Social Solidarity directed them to work to meet them immediately.

The Minister of Social Solidarity decided to form a committee from the central unit of civil society organizations to conduct inspections and oversight of the home.

Dr. Maya Morsi also directed the Egyptian Red Crescent to organize a comprehensive medical convoy to the house tomorrow morning. To conduct all medical examinations on all inmates and provide them with all aspects of care, in addition to the Fund for Supporting Associations and Civil Foundations Projects examining all of the home’s needs and quickly working on them and meeting them.

The Minister of Social Solidarity confirmed that she will make another surprise visit soon to this home to ensure that all the needs of its residents are met, stressing that caring for the elderly is the ministry’s top priority.
