Within the framework of the “Together for Export” initiative, the Medical Industries Export Council is organizing an expanded workshop to enhance Egyptian pharmaceutical exports to African markets, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, under the title “Enhancing Egyptian pharmaceutical exports to Africa (policies, regulations, and market access).”

The workshop comes in the context of the council’s plan aimed at increasing Egyptian medical industry exports to $3 billion by 2030, with broad participation from major drug manufacturers and exporters, heads of pharmaceutical factories, and representatives of companies operating in the sector, in addition to a number of concerned government agencies, led by the Egyptian Drug Authority, the Unified Purchasing Authority, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This high-level presence reflects the state of integration between health policies, pharmaceutical regulation, and economic diplomacy, which supports efforts to penetrate Egyptian medicine into African markets, which represent one of the most important strategic markets targeted for Egyptian medical industries during the next stage.

The Medical Industries Export Council confirmed that the workshop represents a pivotal starting point for a new phase of export work based on institutional coordination and integration between government agencies and the private sector. It also sends a clear message to regional and international markets that Egypt has an advanced regulatory system, a strong industrial structure, and political and diplomatic support capable of consolidating its position as a regional center for the manufacture and export of medicine on the African continent.

The workshop addresses a number of strategic axes, the most important of which is a review of the road map for access to the African market, including unifying procedures for factory licensing and drug registration, the position of registering preparations in African economic blocs, and memorandums of understanding signed between Egypt and African countries in the medical sector, in addition to the role of the African Medicines Agency in unifying pharmaceutical legislation at the continent level.

The events also include a presentation on the target countries and the Export Council’s plan to enhance Egyptian drug exports, in addition to the Egyptian Medicines Authority’s review of developments in pharmaceutical cooperation with African countries, the export incentive package, and modern registration mechanisms, which contributes to accelerating procedures for registering medical preparations and overcoming the regulatory and technical challenges facing exporters.

The conclusion of the workshop is scheduled to witness the honoring of a number of pharmaceutical companies that have achieved tangible achievements in the field of drug export in cooperation with the Export Council, in appreciation of their role in supporting the national economy and enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian pharmaceutical product in global markets.
