One of the middle schools in Beheira Governorate witnessed a tragic incident devoid of educational meanings, as a student stabbed his colleague with a white weapon (a scalpel) inside the classroom, before the examination committee began. This resulted in severe injuries to the victim’s face that required urgent surgical intervention.
The details of the incident go back to the outbreak of a normal dispute between the two students, which developed into one of them bringing a medical “scalpel” and directing penetrating blows to his colleague’s face before the examination committee began, amid a state of panic among the students and teachers.
Disfigurement of the child’s face
The mother of the victim child (Malik) told “Sada El Balad”: “My son was disfigured with 50 stitches, which is not a small number. We made a report, and the prosecution summoned the child who confessed to the incident, but because it happened, he was not detained.”
(YZ) continued, “The perpetrator child did not care about what he did, but rather threatened to kill him in the prosecution office after the investigation, so he did not feel the mistake he had committed against my son.”
The mother explained that what happened was a crime against her son because of a child who practiced bullying in school in this way. She pointed out that her son suffered physically and psychologically and demanded his right under the law because she knows that Egypt is a country of law and will not let a “criminal” get away with his actions without punishment.
I called on the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Education to intervene immediately, open an urgent investigation, and hold all negligent parties accountable.
This incident opens the door to questions about oversight mechanisms within educational facilities, and the necessity of activating inspection procedures and psychological intervention to reduce the phenomenon of school violence and protect the safety of students. The “Sada El Balad” news website appealed to the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood to move quickly, protect the right of the child Malik, and stand by him as it always does.
