The eyes of iPhone users are turning to a new feature under testing that may enhance capabilities artificial intelligence On mobile devices, after Anthropic began experimenting with an addition called Tasks within the Cloud application on the iOS system, the feature appeared in a recent beta version of the application.
Cloud app on iOS
This step reflects a development in the nature of the smart assistant’s work, as the company seeks to move Cloud from being a mere tool for answering inquiries to an assistant capable of carrying out repetitive tasks almost automatically. The feature allows the user to set up a single task and then run it later whenever he needs the same result, without having to re-enter the instructions from the beginning.
In-app task management center
The new feature appears prominently in the application interface, where a separate section has been allocated to it within the main navigation bar, along with a special center for managing tasks. This gives users the ability to create reusable tasks and follow them easily, instead of relying on retrieving previous conversations to carry out specific steps, according to a report by Digital Trends.
Expanding the role of the intelligent assistant
Initial indications indicate that the feature may pave the way for a major shift in the use of smart assistants, so that it is not limited to providing information or summarizing texts, but rather extends to carrying out series of sequential actions, and potential tasks include:
Open specific websites and web pages
Collect information from the Internet
Executing sequential steps that the user would have performed manually
However, some details are still unresolved, especially with regard to managing login data and the permissions required to perform tasks, in addition to confirmation mechanisms before performing sensitive operations.
Waiting for the official announcement
The current phase of testing does not include any official announcement regarding the final launch date or which groups will receive the feature first, but its success will depend on the design of clear controls that enhance user confidence, such as the history of task execution, the ability to preview actions before running them, and options to stop, cancel, and restart.
If Anthropic can achieve a balance between efficiency and security, the Tasks feature may represent a new step towards transforming smartphones into tools capable of performing tasks automatically, going beyond the limits of traditional chat and enhancing the concept of executive artificial intelligence on mobile devices.
