I witnessed the banks of the Suez Canal navigation channel, specifically Sahat Misr Square in the governorate Port SaidA joyful spiritual atmosphere with the round of contestants participating in the Port Said International Competition for Memorizing the Holy Qur’an and Religious Supplication in its ninth session, where the contestants presented passages of religious chanting and prophetic praise in love for the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, with the participation of 42 contestants of memorizers of the Book of God and singers, representing 30 countries from different parts of the world, in a scene that carried a message of peace and love from Port Said to the world.

A gathering of people Port Said Around the contestants, repeating with them the prophetic praises, in a remarkable state of joy, joy and happiness, it reflected the spirit of the Port Said street in conjunction with the launch of the international competition activities and the participation of foreign delegations, amid a great interaction from citizens and ships crossing the Suez Canal, which seemed to share the city’s moments of faith.
These events took place in the presence of Dr. Abdel Karim Saleh, Chairman of the Qur’an Review Committee at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and a number of Al-Azhar scholars, men of science and religion, and singers, who praised the state of popular interaction, stressing that what Port Said is witnessing reflects Egypt’s position in caring for the people of the Holy Quran and spreading the values of moderation and tolerance.
Citizens interacted with the participating delegations during the tour, as the people were keen to take souvenir photos with the contestants, expressing their pride in Port Said hosting this international event, which bears the name of the late reciter Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna, and confirms Egypt’s leadership in serving the Holy Qur’an and its people.
Throughout the day, Cairo International Airport received delegations participating in the competition, in preparation for the launch of its official activities, which began with the performance of Friday prayers at Al-Salam Mosque in Port Said Governorate, followed by organizing singing tours in a number of the streets of the governorate to spread the spiritual atmosphere among citizens.
The official ceremony of the competition is scheduled to begin at 6 pm today, and will be broadcast on Egyptian television, in the presence of Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, Major General Moheb Habashi, Governor of Port Said, and a number of leaders of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and senior officials. The competition will be held under the patronage of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and under the supervision of Dr. Amr Othman, Deputy Governor of Port Said, and followed by the journalist Adel Moselhi, Executive Director of the competition.
The competitions of the ninth session of the Port Said International Competition for Memorization of the Holy Qur’an and Religious Supplication will continue until next February 2, amid full support from Port Said Governorate, to stage the event in a manner befitting Egypt’s international standing and its leadership in serving the Holy Qur’an.
