A medical team at Dakhla General Hospital in New Valley succeeded in saving the life of a young boy after he was exposed to a serious incident in which he swallowed a “pound” coin, which threatened his respiratory system and food tract.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia
The New Valley Health Directorate said in a statement that the urgent surgery was under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Muhammad Rashad, a consultant ear, nose and throat surgeon, who led the team with great skill to extract the foreign body under general anesthesia, and to ensure that no complications occurred to the child, adding that medical efforts were combined to ensure the safety of the case and prepare it in record time.
For his part, Dr. Sherif Sobhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in New Valley, confirmed that the child’s health condition is completely stable and he left the hospital safely, while thanking the hospital administration for providing the necessary capabilities for such critical cases.
