Today, Wednesday, an earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale struck the area near Bakulin in the Philippines, Reuters reported, citing the US Geological Survey.

The US Geological Survey said a 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck an area 68 kilometers (42 miles) east of Bakulin in the Philippines, at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles) on Wednesday.

The Philippine Seismology Agency (Phivolcs) announced that damage and aftershocks are expected as a result of the earthquake that occurred off the coast.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the earthquake.

“It wasn’t that strong, but people rushed out,” said Joey Monato, local police chief in the southern town of Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur province.
