Mohamed Abdel Jalil, the former Egyptian football star, said that he was surprised by the participation of Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet in the starting lineup of the Egyptian national team during the confrontation with Zimbabwe, noting at the same time that Emam Ashour was not ready to participate from the beginning of the match.
Statements of Muhammad Abdel Jalil
Mohamed Abdel Jalil confirmed, in television statements, that Imam Ashour is distinguished by his ability to play in more than one position on the field, which prompted technical director Hossam Hassan to rely on him in his technical calculations.
Mohamed Abdel Jalil added that the South African national team is a strong team and includes distinguished elements who are good at playing in an organized manner, stressing the necessity of relying on three players in the midfield during this confrontation, namely Hamdi Fathi, Mohamed Shehata and Marwan Attia, in order to achieve the required balance.
The former Egyptian football star explained that the best attacking line for the Egyptian national team includes Mohamed Salah, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, and Omar Marmoush, with Mostafa Mohamed as an outright striker in front of them, due to his offensive power and ability to exploit opportunities inside the penalty area.
Bashir Al-Tabei’s statements
For his part, Bashir Al-Tabei, the former Zamalek and Egyptian national team star, stressed the importance of Imam Ashour’s presence in the national team formation, stressing that he is an indispensable player on the field, and must participate throughout the 90 minutes.
Al-Tabei said, in his statements, that Imam Ashour was the only player who posed a real threat during the first half hour of the Zimbabwe match, stressing that his presence was necessary and influential in the team’s performance.
Al-Tabei added that the Zimbabwean national team is considered a low-level team, noting that wasting easy opportunities did not benefit the Egyptian national team in any way, and could have made the match unnecessarily difficult.
Al-Tabei touched on the upcoming confrontation with South Africa, stressing that it is technically better than Zimbabwe, but it is not a difficult team, stressing that the Egyptian team is superior to it in terms of capabilities and experience.
The former Zamalek star concluded his statements by emphasizing that it is best to play the match with the same formation that played the previous match, with a single modification in the defense line, represented by the participation of Rami Rabiaa instead of Hossam Abdel Majeed.
