The United States is experiencing a wave weather An unprecedented winter, with a storm expected to be among the most violent in the country’s history approaching, as it sweeps wide areas laden with heavy snow, ice, and freezing rain, threatening major disruptions to the daily lives of millions of residents.

A historic winter storm hits America

According to what was published in Fox News, the storm has already begun to affect more than 245 million Americans, amid expanded winter weather warnings that included more than 40 states, after its range extended to a distance of up to 2,300 miles, from the southern plains all the way to the northeastern regions.

The weather phenomena accompanying the storm varied between freezing rain in the state of Georgia, and heavy snowfalls in Texas, in addition to severe cold waves in Arkansas, which led to the disruption of movement in a number of areas, and raised the maximum level of preparedness among local authorities.

Washington, D.C. is in a state of emergency

In light of the escalating seriousness of the situation, 19 states, in addition to Washington, D.C., declared a state of emergency, after issuing official winter weather warnings targeting more than 191 million people, in anticipation of possible power outages, disruption of transportation, and high risks of accidents.

The competent authorities continue to call on citizens to adhere to safety instructions, and to follow weather forecasts immediately, while preparing for the worst scenarios in light of a storm described as historic by all standards.

It is worth noting that the United States of America is witnessing a strong winter storm hitting 18 states, causing snow and the cancellation of thousands of flights to and from the affected states.

The storm caused the cancellation of more than 8,300 flights due to snow, ice and freezing rain, and the Federal Aviation Administration expects to close airports and suspend ground flights as the massive storm intensifies, according to CNN.

Weather forecasts indicate heavy snowfall that may reach about 12 inches in the Ohio Valley and parts of the East Coast, in addition to the formation of dangerous ice layers that threaten roads and electricity networks.
